My New favourite lens
5

I spent months considering this lens. On one hand its not stabilised, on the other hand its cheaper than the pan 45 on the other side it is big. In the end I just bought and I have to say its my favourite lens.

It takes beautiful macros (I'm new so some of mine arent great I know) with rapid AF. With the flick of a switch it will take really nice, sharp, contrasty portraits. Plus its fast, bright and feels great. The weight is a little low, which makes it hard to hand stabilise but I am working on it.

It really is great to be able to walk around with a lens that will take macros, portraits and landscapes so easily and speedily.

If you are thinking of getting the Oly 75 but are put off by the price I would suggest you get this over the sigma 60 as it gives you so much more flexibility. It is a stunning bit of kit

I agree, the Oly 60mm macro is a very good and versatile lens.  I also agree that it is difficult to handhold simply because it is so light weight.  Nice pic and enjoy the lens-- very sharp when controlled.

I agree with your assessment of the lens. I just would not consider it big :). It is so light it is never an issue to carry it with you in a bag.

Still believe one of the great advantages of M43 is the lenses. They are great quality and allow you to keep the overall size and weight of your system down.

Hi Chris

I am not sure your comments re the Sigma 60mm are correct and even if they are the Sigma 60mm is brilliant and it is up to us to get the best out of either.

I like you took some months to consider my purchase and are very happy with the result as you should be.

In no way was I intending to say the sigma is a bad lens. It is sharp and amazing value,, I may well pick one up for my stepdaughter . I just think the oly 60 gives you that extra bit of functionality whilst being a great f2.8 portrait lens

Re: My New favourite lens

It's not stabilized because Olympus builds IS into their camera bodies, not their lenses as Panasonic does.

Old thread my friend.

No longer own that lens/camera/system.

Plus dual IS rocks.
