Re: None of the above

? 9-18 F4....we already have a 7-14 and another one is coming.

The Panasonic 7-14 doesn't take filters. It's a major no-no for me.

The new to-be-released Oly 7-14 is gonna be huge and again, it won't take filters!

I own the Oly 9-18 which is super small and takes filters, but the IQ is not that great.

I just wonder why Oly and Pana persist in not releasing a damn UWA prime. Yet, they can't help but relase 17 variations of the same boring lame 14-xx kit lenses.

Re: Better long zoom, wider fast prime

What I'd most like to see is premium 100-300 with constant f/4 aperture, stellar optics, and fast AF. If it could be longer without making it too huge that would be great, too. 150-400mm would be cool, too, and could be f/3.5-5.6.

My second wish would be for a relatively compact 10mm prime at f/2.8 or faster.

Agh, looks like Panasonic was considering a longer telezoom but dropped the idea:

Oh...the Oly neither? Why not? I use Cokin type filters for landscapes. May be someone canmake a system that is put around the outer part of the lens.

Some of those kitlenses are truelly an upgrade but a lot are not.
I think for a viable system to attract the attention, make it interesting we need a complete line up from 7-300 mm with standard, HG and SHG glass....

Fast, high quality, and long zooms are going to be BIG, heavy, and costly. They are not compatible with m4/3's strength. I have some modest goals:

WA primes that are good and 9-18 mm/f4?
25/1.8 OIS
35-100/3.5 OIS?

25 f1.8....Is alreadyt here.
35-100 F2.8 or F3.5...what is the big difference.

Some of my posts were cut off. I also wish one can give us a 10/2.8.

Many people would love to use a 9-18 mm lens as a walk around lens. For this to happen, it has to be cheap (

25mm is a nice all around focal length for the platform but for Panasonic users who shoot videos, there is no OIS prim lenses in the 14-25 fl that has OIS. Considering how small/cheap/good the Oly 25/1.8 is, I think it is totally feasible to make a small compact 25/1.8 OIS lens and not paying no more than the 25/1.4.

Re: That " we " is kind of misleading

It can be quite so, really ... lol ... The mirrorless of all made are nowadays going through somewhat a come of age pain and transformation. On one hand a fair high number of customer is still weaned on the Micro part ( as in light, small, etc ... ) but on the other hand to grow beyond that, the system need these other kind of lens that are really against this initial small, light, and cost constraints.

Its not just Oly and Panny, but also others. But I say Fujifilm pretty much shake the market up with their slew of X mount lens and now the others had to also reflect on what's up for their lineup
