EPM2 couples with 45 year old...lens
1

In this example its the "kit" lens that came with my Nikon Ftn in 1969 a Nikkor-S 50mm f1.4 non ai with a metabones nikon f to m4/3 adapter.

Its like meeting an old friend after a long absence. The non-ai Nikkor has not been used since I shot film, and that's a long time ago. The metabones adapter works just fine. Lens to adapter and adapter to camera fit is perfect. I used a Hoodman loupe to help manual focus the lens wide open than stopping down to a reasonable f stop. Turns photography into a slower more contemplative practice. I like it.

Here are a few examples

The old Nikkor lenses weigh more than the little EPM2, alot more. They were not plastic. Overall results are to my liking. Shot raw, developed in Lightroom.

cheers and beers,

Joe

Hi

There is definitely a pleasure to be had in bringing old equipment back to like, and also in the aesthetics and feel of some of the older gear. It can add to the mood and contemplation.

I felt the same way about bringing back my FD 50mm F1.4.

Then I got the Metabones speedbooster, and it became a 35mm F1.0 lens.

It's definitely interesting to see the way old glass affects new cameras. I carry an FDn 135mm F/3.5 prime and its one of my favorite lenses. Even if it requires a bit more post processing to make it shine, the Canon colours are worth it.

In case you haven't seen this yet, there's an E-M5 focus peaking hack that also works on the E-PM2 and E-PL5:
