Red rose with the EX1

I'm now trying to serve two mistresses, ie my EX1 and a Canon G1 X. I intend to write a comparison of the two in due course. I was stuck inside this afternoon, baby-sitting, so while the little darling was asleep, I grabbed a couple of quick shots with the EX1.

Very nics shots.  Red has always been difficult for me to capture when it comes to flowers.

I agree. I think we tend to think of red as a single colour but of course it has a many variations as other colours. Getting a photo of something naturally red to look authentic is a real challenge.

Lovely

Still loving my EX1 , I had it 3 years now and still impressed with it . I do yearn for a new camera every now and then but can't decide which one . Plus I don't want to stop using it .

Mine goes everywhere with me and has never let me down .

Cherish it. I loved my EX-1 too, but found out it is actually possible to destroy it by dropping it into water twice, second time with a few strategic bounces on a sheer cliff face first... I do wish Samsung would offer us a 1" compact in the EX-1 form factor.

As to this thread: Very nice capture. Red flowers are very tricky - one way is to enable RGB histograms if your camera has them and check the red channel. It will often have a blown high-light bump after plenty of nothing even when the luminosity histogram shows everything is nice and not remotely touching the right hand side.

I just changed my EX1 for an EX2F and I am very impressed about it.

And not to forget that the price dropped drastically as nobody seems interested for this marvellous camera.
