Mirrowless camera or what?

Greetings all,

I'm beginning to get interested in photography again.  I have an old 400D/XTi, and it works well, but I haven't been using it and of course it doesn't do video.  I bought a Panasonic FZ200 bridge camera as it is lighter and not needing to change lenses and all, but it does have a small sensor, nice camera otherwise.  What I'm thinking is, I have a few lenses around and I know that most M43 cameras can use Canon lenses and that they are smaller cameras and easier to travel with, larger sensor to my bridge cam. I thought about the 100d/SL1(in the States, I believe), but I'd like a flip screen.  Has anyone gone mirrowless, thinking about it, and if not why not?  Thanks, Lepewhi

I use both a DSLR (Canon 650D) and a MFT (Panasonic GF6), both have it's advantages and disadvantages. Mostly use the DSLR. It's probably about personal choices. Canikon has myriads of lenses and history, MFT has limitations in low light and getting superb bokeh in some situations and limited to 16MP, at least for now.

Thanks Johnny,

I know cameras are about compromise, that's why there are so many of them and none are perfect.  I would just like something small, modern, video, live view, etc.  I guess I'll just keep what I got and maybe in a few years there will be a bridge with a decent sized sensor or Canon will come out with a small SL2, with flip screen.  Lepewhi

Have you considered the new Sony RX100 III? It is definitely small enough to be pocketable, and has a fast F1.8-2.8 zoom lens, a modern 1" type BSI 20MP sensor, that despite being smaller than APS-C, is still much bigger than in most cameras in its size class, has top-end 1080/60p video with full sensor readout and live view, a 180 degree tilting flip screen on the back, and even includes an innovative integrated pop-up EVF.  Sounds like something that could meet all of your criteria now without having to wait a few years to see what Canon will come out with.

You want a flip screen, get a 700D.

I went mirrorless with the M, but I also still shoot with a 650D and a 6D. They all have their place and time, and none can replace any of the other two.
