I'm sorry but reviews like yours should be illegal ;-).  I just bought 60/2.8 macro and am lusting after Oly 75.

Tremendous review, and if I hadn't had my G.A.S. Inoculation?

I might be a few hundred short on the mortgage this month, well written and great images to show the capability.

Solution is to own both. I do, and although the focal lengths are similar, the 60mm macro is designed for a different purpose than the 75mm. Also the 60mm macro is soo light and small, it really takes next to no space in ones day to day kit.

Love, love, love this lens

Being a Panny owner, I was reluctant to buy this without any kind of IS. But with my GX7, I use it to do a lot of street shooting.  It's great because you can put some distance between you and your subjects.

I do a lot of "nija style" photography so I don't like to make it obvious I taking someone's picture.

Thinking about getting rid of my Oly 45.

Re: Love, love, love this lens

guess then using the 75 1.8 on an E-M1 with vertical grip may defeat the purpose of Ninja style photography

Beautiful, beautiful work, Mohammad. Talk about…

…realizing the potential of your equipment -- and demonstrating its capabilities (and your own)!

For me, the 75 is a bit long, I really do prefer to work with a shorter lens so I can be a bit nearer my subjects -- the Oly 45 is just right for me -- but you sure do make a powerful case for the 75mm!

Cheers, geoff

Re: Long Term Pictorial Review: Olympus 75 f/1.8

granted, i only read the summary plus a phrase here and there, since the lens isn't particularly interesting for me. but i had to have a look at your pictures, given all the praise. and the pictures don't disappoint. you know your work and your gear.

just the bokeh thing... it's a matter of taste, of course. but while there are some pictures with nice bokeh i think this isn't a domain where the 75/1.8 excels at. it's quite good, but not as good as it needed to win me over.

Re: Long Term Pictorial Review: Olympus 75 f/1.8

I am and always have been interested in this lens. I have the panny 25 the oly 45 and would like to add this one but I have found since getting the oly 12-40 pro, I am using the primes less and less so really questioning if getting the 75 would give me anything that getting the upcoming 40-150 pro would not. So despite the fact that reviews like this one always make me want to give into gas, I think I am holding off to see what the quality of the 40-150 pro is going to look like

Must be very good!

Your comparison to the Canon 200/2.8L lets me know how good the Oly 75/1.8 is.  The Canon is a suburb lens.  Used it for over 5 years.  Reluctantly sold it when I down sized my Canon kit.  But still have the even better 135/2.0 L.

Actually, I think all lens/camera reviews should be illegal, and you'd have to acquire a certain license or certificate that you're immune to GAS.

I thought a few times about the 60 macro, and my impressions were that it is longer than the 75 but thinner, but your comment caught my attention, do you have a picture for both beside each other?

LOL, that's intimidating.

Everytime someone mentions ninja photography, I try to imagine a busy street at midday with an actual ninja trying to be stealthy and take pictures, cracks me up.

I am humbled, thanks for your compliment, and everyone else's. I still love my 45 a lot, would never get rid of it.
