8 Years later and it still is going strong

I bought this brand new in around 2006/2007 and 8 years later it's still going strong. What more can I say - it's a pretty darned good camera.

The XTI and XT were very good cameras and still are.

Re: 8 Years later and it still is going strong

There was a big jump in sensor quality for the 550D (T2i), and this sensor has remained essentially unchanged for the 600D, 650D and 700D. The following crops were taken from DPReview sample galleries:

D500 at ISO 100

D550 at ISO 100

D600 at ISO 100

D650 at ISO 100

And for a quick comparison, Nikon D3200 at ISO 100

I think the difference in Canon and Nikon is due more to excessive noise processing by Canon to make up for the older technology than the sensors themselves. Elsewhere I have noticed that this Canon processing creates more contrast, and smudges some detail. Although here the Nikon image has some odd brown smudges.

I owned a 400D back in the day. I bought it as an upgrade to the 350D, but the 400D showed banding while its predecessor did not. Nevertheless, xxxD range has been very competent since the 300D.

Funny, this was among the xxxd line that I missed. I wasn't able to use or own the 300D, 400D, 650D abd 700D. I think the 100D is a start of a new line and us thus not included here. My current apsc's are Nikon D90, Canon 450D and Fuji X-M1. I bought them all "used."
