Help needed.

Hoping someone can shed some light as to what's happened with my camera. It's an a77 and I was using a tamron 70-300 sp  at 10fps. It didn't happen on single shot. Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Help needed.

Was EFCS (electronic front curtain shutter) on during this shot? It is known to sometimes do weird things at high shutter speeds.

Either that or a more general problem with the shutter mechansim.

Yes, I've heard people having issues when SS is faster than 1/2000 sec I thnk

Can you post with the EXIF attached?  Lots of information is missing.

Re: Help needed.

I'd be curious as to what your EXIF info says.  But it looks like the shutter curtain got captured in the image.

I use EFCS all the time and I have never had any issues with high shutter speeds, even as high as 1/8000s.

Me neither.  I've seen some unusual fringing at extreme shutter speeds with EFCS, but nothing like in the OP.  No idea if the fringing is related to EFCS.

A lens issue

Depends on the lens.

With most lenses I don't have problems, but with some lenses I get this dark upper part of the frame from 1/2000 sec when cusing first electronic shutter curtain, even with astronomical telescopes without any diaphragm mechanism.

Re: Help needed.

Do you mean apart from not having a better longer lens to get the subject to fill the frame?
