More birds! (this time with flash)
3

This morning I setup my E-M1 on a tripod out at the tree where our bird feeder is. I started with the 45mm 1.8 and then swapped to the 100-300. Not all of these are perfect as I was tapping on my tablet screen via the OIShare app to take the shots. Occasionally I ended up focusing on a body instead of a head but all in all I was very happy with the performance of the setup and the Olympus app. I also used my FL600r to fill in, and I think that made all the difference from my prior attempts. Overcast skies helped with the lighting as well.

As a bonus, this morning was the first time this year we saw indigo buntings, and I got *one* shot of him before my camera battery died!

Female cardinal

Male cardinal

Titmouse (uncropped)

Chipping sparrow (fairly heavy crop)

House (or purple??) finch

Indigo bunting. What a gorgeous bird!

Re: More birds! (this time with flash)

The longer FL is obviously better here. 45 1.8 has ugly and distracting bokeh here (and that is surprising).

Re: More birds! (this time with flash)

That's precisely the reason I switched to the 100-300 after the few several shots

Hi like you images,

One question I notice you using a flash with a shutter speed 1/500  , The max on my EM1  is 1/320

Tell me how  ?

Unusual for me, not sure, love 'em hate 'em.  Great definition but that flash just takes them a little beyond my comfort level.  Indigo Bunting is a great capture
