Thanks so much for the kind words. That Tokina lens has renders OOF areas so smoothly, you'd think it was a Tamron macro lens. Too bad it's so big and heavy.

Thanks again Bob. I don't care how old the "S" cams are, they still produce wonderful files even when compared to todays newest and best DSLR's. It's hard for me to believe how little they sell for used, it's a joke really! If I wanted to do wedding photography or open a studio, they'd be the first cams I'd look at, which says a lot given their age.

Hi Carsten,

Yeah, I'm sure the S3 or S5 would work beautifully. After every pic you post with that Samyang 35mm 1.4 it makes me want one:) It renders the OOF areas so beautifully, buttery smooth. Really like the first shot.

When we bought our house in 1987 the owners had a saguaro in the front yard, imported from Arizona 9 years before.  Unfortunately during the 90-day escrow it died and it was something I was not pleased about.

However the other succulents survived and they bloom yearly.

Has there been enough rain in your parts for some great bloomin' cactus?

Bob Re: Tom

We need rain in the fall to make for a great wildflower season. Last fall we got none and this spring virtually no wildflowers. A real bummer for me because I really enjoy going out and shooting them. The cacti don't depend much on rain so the saguaros are budding nicely. The Argentine Giants, which have the largest cactus flowers did well this year but they are just about done. I'll probably shoot the Saguaro flowers later this spring when they're in full bloom. Barrel Cactus are also starting to bloom now. Their flowers are not as dramatic as the Argentine's or Saguaro's but are a beautiful yellow.

I'll post when I get some. BTW, I have a Saguaro in my backyard that I transplanted from my daughter's home and it's not budding yet. Hope it does.

Lovely shots Tom, I'm sure this looks wonderful on the wall. As I've heard/read others say, if you can fill the frame with your subject you can print large "S" files without any difficulty.
