What Film Simulation mode did you use

How did you set your white balance

How did you set the Dynamic Range

What Metering Mode did you use

What was your ISO set to

You can go to his Flickr link and figure some of that out for yourself.

The EXIF is there.

If you know how Flickr works.

It was all natural light with a 40" x 60" reflector. In hindsight the reflector may have been a little too big. I have another session with a different model coming up soon. I think I am going to mix in use of the EF42 Fujifilm flash with a soft box and a reflector.

I am still getting use to the various settings and capabilities of the X-T1 but, I am finding it to be a wonderful camera overall.

Lovely composition and picture however where was the focus point? The eyes need to be razor sharp, either you captured the eyebrows or the lens is front focussing.

The focusing variation has to do with my inexperience with the focusing system and how to adapt to the way it works. Over time I will be able to yield a higher rate of success with my captures. There is no issue with front focus. In this instance, the lens to subject distance was quite short and the aperture in many cases was wide open amd so I needed to be more careful of where the actual point of focus was. I should have stopped my aperture setting down another half or full f-stop. That would likey have enabled me to extend the depth of field enough to ensure getting both eyes sharply in focus.

It just takes time getting used to using a new piece of technology and becoming intuitive with the controls, menu system, and ergonomics.

Can't believe its so sharp !

Some on the most detailed and sharpest portraits I ve seen.

I heard the 60mm is sharp but didn't think it was this sharp.

I thought I wouldn't need it , but now I m tempted.

Did you shoot JPEG SOOC or RAW and PP? If raw, what did you use for your PP ?

Thanks for sharing

Lovely model and photo, a lot of mood !

If I may : there is definitly some highlights clipping on the middle of the face

To cope with that 2 ways  :

PP the RAW and adjust levels

Or in JPEG use DR 400 and S-2 or -1 and same for H since ther is obviously a lot of contrats This will help to capture all subtle tones of the carnation

Cheers

I think your aperture selection was ideal, the lovely soft focus on the rest of her is ideal. Perhaps investigating the focus peaking feature is an idea.

I think that is an excellent suggestion. Thank you for the idea!

A lot of good suggestions. The images are pretty much OOC. I need to play around with DR200 and DR400 settings. I am also going to try using Photo Ninja on the RAW files and see how that may help.

Thanks Bob.

The images are pretty much OOC with a very slight white balance correction of the jpeg files. I am going to do a complete post processing job using the RAW files which I have not used as yet from this session. I hope to do the PP this weekend.
