the everything camera

This is it, the (almost) perfect m43 camera. I most appreciate the focus peakng and ibis. This lets me use my old favorite minolta and contax primes. However, 125 and longer is difficult to focus, as the viewfinder is not stabilized. Ive had the GX7 since September 2013 and used it quite a lot. Its all round excellent, and even for a decent price.  One piece of advice, don't buy cheap adaptors. My minolta 50mm 1.4 was disappointing with the fotodiox adapter, but with the metabones (~$100) it just sprang to life.  THe contax g series lenses dont work too well because of their quirky autofcus.  I haven't compared the OM-1, but the jury seems to be out on which ibis works better. Who cares, 3 or 4 stops is wonderful in any case.

my, my: change IS possible!

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a nice camera.

I was particularly struck by your mention of IBIS. I thought perhaps you'd made a mistake, since I've been under the impression that Olympus did IBIS and Panasonic did not. But I see (of course) that you're right. What really interests me about this is that it provides that a company can change. I don't expect Canon or Nikon ever to show this flexibility in their larger cameras, but I'm impressed that Panasonic has.

The lens flange distance has Nikon and Canon locked into reflex mirror cameras for the time being, and lenses, not camera bodies, are where the profits are.  Keeping with their current practice of upgrading lenses via IS mechanisms allows for continued sales of newer, profitable lenses.  Only if and when either company shifts away from reflex mirror cameras, and starts building a whole new family of lenses to go along with the shorter flange distances will we likely see a jump over to IBIS from them.
