Eleusina's Shipwreck
5

Last week i had been to Eleusina which is a place near Athens, Greece. There is a shipwreck that i was seeing it all the time that i was passing by that road but i never had a chance to photograph it. But that was until last Saturday when i decided to took a photo of this shipwreck.

2 days ago i uploaded this photo to 500px and in a few hours it made it to the top 8 popular photos in the fine art category and nearly to the top 50 populars (the higher ranking it got was 56).

I don't think it is so much what the nx300 and 12-24 achieved but what the person behind that camera did

Great job

I took 3 raw photos, one for the highlights one for the shadows and one with normal exposure. Then in photoshop i made 3 seperate layers with these and i masked the areas that i wanted.
After that i copied the clouds layer to the sea and i lowered the opacity so i could achieve that reflection down. Then after dogding-burning i converted the photo to black and i white. After that i used some adjustment layers (Levels mostly), i added some sharpness to the points it was needed and finaly i cropped it to square format.

Thank you for your kind words, sure the person behind the camera must have the knowledge to use it and also have an idea of the final outcome in mind. After that it's part of the job of the camera to be able to capture this idea and transform it into a photo.

What gives the sense of movement, the radial lines?

Re: Eleusina's Shipwreck

The long exposure combined with the direction of the cloud's movement.

Re: Eleusina's Shipwreck

Technically very good! Well done, great balance.

Unfortunately I don't like the extreme sense of movement in the sky radials coupled with the completely static sunken ship. I don't think it works as the sense of movement in the two halves is too extreme. Sorry, just MHO.

But again as an example of technical excellence and mastery of PS then really well done.
