WB800f and range - AEB problem solved

My attention was drawn to this camera, as the range appears to be the only small compacts to offer auto exposure bracketing from -2 to +2 stops - as desired for HDR work. However, I have spent a month trying to get it to work on shop demonstration models, with 2 usually knowledgeable sets of shop staff AND Samsung UK support AND the downloaded manual proving no help at all.

Finally, today, another hour spent fiddling with the camera produced success. Nobody tells you, or seems to know, that AEB only works in the ASM mode, and then only if the memory has enough room. Both shops had no card in the camera, which thus relied on on-board memory, which doesn't have room for 3 full-sized shots. Instead of Samsung's camera designers warning you of this they just don't display the necessary options. The manual is utterly useless on this point.

Now, I must say I find the specs. and price of this camera very appealing. As well as the excellent, and fast, AEB, the lens is half-a-stop faster than most travel zooms. I'm giving it serious consideration against the rival Panasonic and Sony offerings.
