X-E2 + 60MM + Flying birds = ??
2

I forgot I did this a couple months ago. Went out one sunrise and took some pictures at the Jefferson Memorial. I've never done "birding", but I turned the X-E2 + 60mm to AF-C and 3fps, and tried a bit. I missed some shots, but I was surprised at how well it went in general. I imagine it won't make the hardcore 'BIF' enthusiasts happy, but I was pleased.

Processed with Iridient and Adobe Camera Raw, saved to med-high jpeg for upload, sorry for the artifacts.

perhaps the 70-200 may have been better? looks in focus though so you did well in that aspect!

Of course the 55-200 would have been better. I didn't have it with me though, had two primes, as I was just shooting a couple landscape sort of pictures when the geese invaded.

Don't know about the X-E2 but AF-C on the X-E1 is only in the center point. Those geese are a bit off center, so makes me wonder how they're in focus! Maybe they were in the center of the frame on the prior shot and the camera kept the same focus point?

Good work. I would strongly suggest that you stop down to f/8 for shots like this to get more DOF which means more keepers. Shooting wide open limits potential results and you seemed to have plenty of light.
