SX50 in manual mode

My LED screen goes blank in Manual mode.  Is there a way to turn it on?

In manual mode, the screen shows what the actual exposure settings would produce.  The way to make it visible is to adjust the exposure to what the proper value would be for that light level.  It is dark for a reason, and that reason is that the shutter speed/aperture value set on the camera would underexpose.  Baffled me when I first got mine also... for a little while.  Likely, by the time you read this, you will have figured that out already.

Thank you are right. I figured it out just before reading your reply. I am assuming in manual mode on the right vertical is the metering showing me under and over exposure?
