A6000 auto iso in the manual mode?????

Ok. Looked in the manual but no mention of this option. I know this option is available in higher end models. Did sony incorporate this feature into the a6000?

The already-posted manual doesn't have much at all. We know that this has A7-type menus and features such as back-button autofocus. It's pretty much a sure bet that auto-ISO in M mode is there, because the A7 has it, this is the same ASIC processor, and there's no reason to rip it out.

You would think there is no reason but I can think of some. $$$$ to make people who like certain features to upgrade cameras.

Re: A6000 auto iso in the manual mode?????

On all SLTs below the A77 Sony left out the ability to set min and max auto ISO values. The lower end A57, A37 etc are all missing the ability to set minimum and maximum auto ISO values despite sharing the same menus. So it cannot be assumed that Sony might leave a feature such as auto-ISO in M out of lower end cameras.

I would like to see some confirmation that it has the ability to set min-max auto ISO values and the ability to do auto ISO in M mode before buying it as well.

Unfortunately this is true.

That second link goes directly to a post farther down in that thread, where Allin says 'of course it is', in response to Quezra's question if the Auto ISO exists in M mode.

I hope he is correct but I am still doubtful. Too bad sony can't publish a real manual on how the camera works.

I contacted b&h and here is what they said.

Thank you for contacting the E-Mail Sales Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

The A6000 does have auto ISO capability that will work in manual mode.

Please let us know if there is anything else we

Min and Max auto ISO settings do appear to be there...

Good news:

Still images: ISO 100-25600 equivalent (1/3 EV step),

AUTO (ISO 100-25600, selectable lower limit and upper limit)

Movies: ISO 100-12800 equivalent (1/3 EV step) / AUTO (ISO 100-12800 equivalent, selectable lower limit and upper limit)

That from the Sony Europe press site.

Well I'll be… I didn't know the EOS-M supported that. And what do you know - there it is. Thanks, man - you just rocked my world!

(Duh... mental block much?)

This is one capability I would definitely holler for in any future enthusiast camera body. (Would be nice to see a firmware update to add it to my NEX-7 but I'm not holding my breath.)

I have found Sony.net to be a good resource for features/specs. It is for latest products only though (except lenses which includes them all). Everything else leads to regional websites.

No reason, but Sony has ripped features out before. Ripping out the Quick Menu feature in the 5R. (called Quick Navi in the 6.) Also ripping out a few special effects modes in the 5R so you have to buy them with Play Memories. Ripping out all kinds of stuff in the 3N.)

All of the recent fast cameras with high max. ISO capabilities can generally be left on auto-ISO because of the huge tolerance for sharpness..in the case of more recent Sony APS-C cameras; good for up to ISO 3000.
