Re: HOW MANY OF YOU STILL USING 10 YEAR OLD DSLR?

With sensor technology advancing so fast, it is difficult not to take advantage of the better sensors of newer cameras. The situation is starkly different from the days of film cameras, where one can own a camera for decades without it affecting the quality of the photographic work.

I still have , and very occasionally use , several film cameras that I have owned for decades - including my Pentax KM , bought new in 1975 , the ME Super , one of my two MX's ( gave one away just last year ) , my two LX's and my MZ-S . Besides a few other Pentax bodies bought because they were cheap and filled a gap in my collection or had a lens I wanted bundled with them , but have never really used , there's also a Rollei 35S and a T , plus a Hasselblad 500C lurking upstairs somewhere .

10 years is just too long to ignore all the technological upgrades that vastly help with the photographic experience.

Well one thing I'm noticing in this thread is that either Pentax dslrs are built to last, or Pentax users are cheapskates, I know not which.

Re: Nikon D70 still kicking.

I bought 2 D70s(es?), one new and one that was 2 years old.  The first is still going strong after going to a friend, the used one died with 160,000 clicks on it.  My gf still shoots with (and loves) her D100.

Dave, I agree.

I had two Canon 10Ds that were used for many weddings and portraits. Still have one of them, although it doesn't get used much anymore.

Built like a tank and as long as you kept the ISO at about 800 or below it did a good job.

The 10D was my first DSLR, after leaving the 35mm world, and it's the camera that got me hooked on digital.

I still grab that D70 once and a while, there is something about that CCD color and real light AA filter.

my first SLR Canon 1Ds produced some damn nice photos in daylight

but the shadow banding was atrocious. I since have moved on.
