Re: Late Evening and Early Morning

Both pictures are beautifull, but very different.

I like path to the stars just a little more than the other picture.

Mountain Pano

Mt. Katahdin, E-5 and 50-200.  Six portrait oriented frames shot at 200mm, f11, stitched with Ice.  As always, comments and criticism welcome, and thanks for looking.

back to Monhegan (sort of)

At the Art Museum in New Orleans I ran across a painting of Monhegan Island done in 1909 by Robert Henri. It got me inspired to revisit my Monhegan files with some creative processing. Not for everyone's taste...

Re: It never rains in Sunny California...

Hi Dave,

Send some of that rain our way. My rain gauge collected 4 inches (10 cm) of rain since Thursday. That's the most we've had this season, since last spring. We need 6 more inches to get anywhere close to back to normal.

I've read about the torrential rain and flodding in the UK. Stay dry if you can.

I like these colors really ..

Was not sure what the white spots were, till I looked at the image closer. It is well framed for square, and looks very pleasing overall.

We finally got some rain in California. I have about 4&1/2 to 5 iches in my rain gauge since Thursday night. That's a lot for a place that gets 14 to 18 inces per year. We need about 6 more inches by my count in March to return to normal rainfall for the season. I had to get out and try to capture some images of the rain.

It does not rain as often in the southern parts of the State as it does in the north. Usually from late January into the March at least, kind of expected.

Thanks for sharing.

Looks rather difficult, and great capture that is! Thank you.

Last few times, I've tried to keep the man made elements to a minimum in the composition. This time I tried to go the other way.

Cheers,

So I wonder what you do with the colors, they do look rather pleasing for their intensity. Very much film-like.

This in particular, is very an excellent composition, and with good sense of presence (if I can say that). Well done, thank you.

Re: Anyone for Sunday Scapes (2014-03-02) ?

I took this yesterday. As much as I have been loving on my new E-1 I dont think the 5mp sensor would have been up for a job like this without a better zoom so I reverted to the e-420.

This 100 car beast just wandered by while I was waiting for a chance at the first picture. I really need to start learning a little post processing because Im sure you could do something cool with this otherwise slightly washed out picture.

EDIT: both pictures taken on sunday.

A very nice image.  Great clouds enhance the sky.

Not very well!!  Were are the day time 'running lights'?  Interesting and somewhat mysterious looking on first glance.

Re: back to Monhegan (sort of)

I like both the painting which appears to have been nicely restored/cleaned and also your images which have been nicely processed.  The second in particular is well framed.

Indeed the second image can be improved considerably in post with much better colour and contrast and some cropping of the bottom to improve the composition.  The sky portion, however, remains somewhat of a non contributor as not a lot can be done with it barring replacement.

Hi All,

Quite some time since I last posted. Still using my E-3, this one with the 12-60 attatched, and it never let's me down whatever conditions I might encounter;-)

Cheers,

Frankly I'm surprised it came out as well as it did. It was an L.A or Beijing type hazy day.

Does anyone know of a popular or standard beginners guide to post processing? I've done done googling but I haven't been very excited about what I've found...I havea few other pictures that might fit in well here but could use a little digital help first.

Re: Foyne Harbour

Looks cold. No swimming allowed. There's a very wide range of light from top to bottom. That's very hard to capture.
