Sweet Galaxy NX (EK-GN120) deal at Adorama

The Galaxy NX has an instant rebate of $200 on both the body-only and kit versions until February 22nd, it seems.

There is an additional $150-200 discount on the 50-200/4-5.6 and 10/3.5 lenses if bought together with the camera or kit:

Why so much NX hate?

I think it's an amazing thing, this camera. No, I don't have a spiffy prerelease demo model to review, but performance wise it seems to get high marks from most critics and... It's a full blown Android 4.2 touchscreen Galaxy device running 4.2 w/ WiFi, BT, 16GB internal, MicroSD, a huge 4.8" screen, EVF and 4G LTE?!

Jeez guys, it's like a Galaxy Note merged with an NX mirrorless using their new(er) 20MP plus all the photo editing, gaming, productivity stuff. You could run video output to a monitor and use the thing as a computer with BT keyboard, etc.

No, it's not a D610. Yes, it costs about what you'd pay for an Android tablet plus an NX300, but that's pretty much what you're getting, no? If not in terms of amazing ergonomics or Fuji like styling, capability and specs.

I just don't see the reason for the hate.

I just dont see the reason for the love.

Somebody calls $1399 for this cam a sweet deal, well their idea of a sweet deal and mine are totally different.

Who's loving on it? Not me, I don't have the thing. Not calling it a 'sweet deal', either. I just don't see justification for the ongoing vilification. Much of the criticisms seem contradicted by posted reviews on other sites. I agree the price is high, but as I said, you're getting a fully functional 4.8" screen Android device with WiFi/BT/4G plus an APS-C mirrorless NX camera with lots of lenses and excellent IQ.

Wrong. The Galaxy NX started selling in late November 2013 in the US:

My idea of a sweet deal is 14% off the body only and 55% off selected lenses. That is considered a sweet deal in any camera systems I've owned (Nikon, Canon, Panasonic).

Maybe your grudge is on the initial asking price, or the perceived subjective total value of the camera?

If so, your postings are irrelevant to the topic, which is the discount deal at Adorama in terms of objective percentages, not in terms of subjective value to you.

Regardless of the perceived quality of the camera, an argument that it is 8 months old and thus should cost 30% of initial price is laughable.

Re: Why so much NX hate?

au contraire, what is laughable that someone would actually pay $1399 for that gadget. Id give $399, not a dime more. Ive never paid full price for any Samsung cam , no need to.

'Not a dime more' than $399 isn't a reasonable dialogue or valid critique of the thing, though.

If you don't have a use for an NX camera coupled with a 4.8" WiFi/BT/4G LTE Android device that's fine, but that's what you're paying for.
