Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE) BIF pics

Went to the Southeastern Wildlife Expo 2014 in Charleston, SC this weekend. There was a demonstration from the local Birds of Prey Center where they did flight demos with quite a few of the birds.  I brought my E-M1 and Pana 100-300 to see if I could get any good shots.  It's worth mentioning that I have recently been using back-button-focus with C-AF.  While I really enjoy b-b-f in concept, the C-AF on the E-M1 is horrible - at least with the 100-300.  It hunts like crazy even on obvious targets and often stops focusing when it is off by about 6 inches.  My keeper rate has dropped quite a bit.  Still trying to come up with new techniques.  I really do like the ability to separate the focus from the shutter button and to lock it in place (something that seems oddly missing from the AE/AF button) but the C-AF is killing me.

Anyway, my keeper rate during the flight demos was <20%. Some of these aren't perfect but I liked the overall scene so I went with it. Hope you enjoy.

Great horned owl

Yellow billed kite. I'm very happy with the sharpness on this one

Here is the yellow billed kite grabbing food while on the wing. Not as sharp as some of the others but the overall scene was so cool I had to share it
