San Francisco Wine competition.
1

So I spent yesterday pouring wine for the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting at Fort Mason.

I mentioned the "Thirsty Multitudes" in the "Is it Art?" thread.

Here's what it was like looking to our left:

And to the right:

Our booth before the public got in:

Loads of fun - so many cheerful people !

Solid with people as far as the eye can see right and left - the largest exposition of California wines in the world, and every wine an award winner - participation is bt invitation, winerys bring their winning wines.

Well done Erik.  Shows how well the ZS25 can do in the right hands.

It looks like you were kept busy.  I hope you managed to sample some of the wines, just to taste and compere the different varieties of course.

Wow.  So many booths, so little time.  How do the samplers keep their palates fresh with so much on offer?

Interesting to see pictures of the event.  Thanks for the views.

That looks like one heck of a party Erik. Nice job with the ZS25. Is there a limit how many samples a person can try? It looks like hundreds of sipping opportunities available.

So much wine, so little time!!!

The limit is........can you walk out ?

Most of the customers are very responsible and only wish they could taste everything - I made two sweeps trying various Syrahs (Shiraz to our Ozzi friends); many, like me, stick to one varietal so they can get some comparisons.

Over 250 wineries, many with several wines.

It's crazy. We arrived with our winery's cases of wine, in my daughter's car.

I drove home

Nice pictures Erik!  I enjoy seeing other pics with the ZS25.  I was in Cool this weekend and got some really good indoor photos of my family with my ZS25.  I've started using aperature priority as the default, and my pictures are looking better.  Also tried some HDR shots.

Today I'm throwing my camera in the backpack and taking a bike ride to Golden Gate Park.  Thanks again for sharing your pictures...there are always good photo opportunities in San Francisco!

Looking good, Erik - on all accounts - you, the camera and the event!  A friend of ours was there and said it was a blast, and he didn't even get blasted!

Take care,

Daniel

Thanks for sharing a part of your life, Erik.    I, too, would have been cheerful had I been there.  Out of all my travels, the Bay Area has always been one of my favorites.  The only place I have liked more is Nova Scotia, but I would not want to live there....too cold for me.

I agree - that's why I live here, coming from Maryland.

Have you tried Tasmania?

Hobart is "not too big, not to small......just right !"

A "real city" about 200 years old but small enough that even I meet people I know on the street.

My daughter wound up there - nice house, 10-minute commute, office overlooking a harbour very much like San Francisco. And they even speak a sort of english
