Seriously, I'm thinking of F as a prefix. Don't want to confuse it with Nikon or Canon F1 but something close.

better make a new nomenclature. something like:

RK-1 for the bodies, and R* for the lenses

Obviously, Ricoh KF !
2

Ricoh is the brand, K is the mount, F stands for full frame.

Following the same naming scheme Pentax has BEEN using for the past five or six years, I'd call it a K-1. That's what I've been assuming they'd call it all along, and part of why I figured they waited until they got their APS-C model number down to K-3 first, plus the fact that I feel they've taken APS-C roughly as far as it can reasonably go, except for perhaps some further refinements to the current K-3, as in maybe something like a K-3 I down the road.

Of course I'm entirely aware the *fist D post was largely in jest, as well.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I'd prefer a more distinctive name so that whoever hear it, would know it's a FF.

Re: KK-1000

That seems to be a catchy name to me.  KK-mount suggest that it will be twice as good as the K-mount. It will be the first Pentax FF-model.  Subsequent models can move up the ladder to KK-100, KK-10 and eventually to KK-1.

Ricoh Incorperating Pentax, unfortunately shortening down to "RIP", ominous? LOL!

Re: What would you call a FF Pentax?

Given that the LX was so named because it was introduced in the 60th year of the Asahi Optical Co , the new camera could be similarly named . We are currently in ( I think ) the 95th year - so how about the Pentax XVC ?

In just a few years we will see the company mark its centenary - what better way to record it for posterity than with a Pentax C ? And a limited edition run of Gold models : the Pentax C-Au !

Re: What would you call a FF Pentax?

35mm film was called 135 format, medium format came in 620 and 120 film standards.

So you can have 67D, 645D and 32D, or 670D, 645D and 320D... these are all directly related to the aspect ratio not the film type.

for film type it would be 120D, 120D and 135D or 620D, 620D, 135D

35D is not valid as 35mm film is not the true name of the format.

K1D

K135!

Or, K1D.

Maybe put the sub-version indicator in front of the model to mix things up a bit, so:

I K1D

.

Since the majority of scientific breakthroughs in human history have started with someone asking and answering a hypothetical question (if even to themselves,) this would make for a lot of fools

Fill in the model number as the Brand progresses under Ricoh

Here's hoping for a mirror less  Pentax KF-01!

I think for a politician it is foolish to answer a hypothetical question because it can be difficult to come up with a feasible lie to a hypothetical question. A lie is better when combined with a little fact.

Sony really has no place in this discussion.

Also, I don't see how this is a reply to OzDean and I.

It does, because it is a full frame that works with all Pentax K mount lenses.

Eric

Works with all K-mount lenses...unless you want AF or aperture control, let alone Pentax ergonomics or RAW quality. Sure most of the FF-capable lenses have aperture rings but honestly, why bother with MF and stop-down metering every time you want to slap an FA ltd on there?

It's a crap compromise.

-Raj

Sony is the only FF digital Pentax until Pentax comes out with one.
There is another one close to impossible alternative - film.
Take your pick

At least the lenses work right with film.

Fuji Reala film...still regularly using my FF Pentax. Wouldn't be caught dead disgracing these lenses with a Sony FE adapter, but maybe it's just me?
