Does WR mean the same as WP. I do not think WR "Weather resistant" means the same as "Weather proof."

Re: Penrax K3 weather sealing problem.

I took it in to the dealers today. I bought a MAC insurance with the camera so it appears that even if Pentax let me down, the MAC warranty will cover me. One way or the other it looks as if I'll get out of this BUT will I ever dare take the Pentax out in the rain again? This is the big question.

Re: Penrax K3 weather sealing problem.

If I were you, I would take it out to the rain again before the warranty expired. After all, knowing the camera's capability - mainly if it is within the design spec. - is the thing one must find out first of all.

Re: Penrax K3 weather sealing problem.

Thing is, if they repair or replace it and I go out in the rain again - and it fills up again, will they repair it a second time? It's the uncertainty that's the problem. On the other hand, if they find a missing seal, that's better, because there's a reason the water got in.
Just a thought. Since I operated the zoom lens when I was in the rain, that would have caused a suction when the lens went out. I wonder if this bit of a vacuum pulled water in to the camera? Maybe it would be better to leave the zoom lens in just one position, when is raining?

Re: One faulty camera doesn't make a pattern (nt)

That's a very good point. I did say to the dealer that my preference would be a replacement but if they find the problem, then a repair would be fine. When we wanted to know where a bicycle inner tube leaked, we'd pump it up and shove it in the bathtub. The bubbles showed the area. Maybe Pentax have something that pumps a bit of air into the bayonet and they could do the same. That would show the fault immediately. I'd be funny if it had left the factory without any seals..... I'm sure things like this happen from time to time.

I over reacted. Sorry.
Many years ago I posted my experiences with a new K10 that had an auto focusing problem. It wasno big deal but I thought i should tell the community about it. Immediately, I received hateful replies from people accusing me of being a troll or a plant from Nikon or Canon trying to rubbish Pentax's good name. With memories of this, I snapped. Sincere apologies.

Maybe it pulled in highly humid air, instead of water? Well, the air has to go in and out as you operate the zoom ring.

But to get to the top LCD in 15 minutes, you'd have to zoom a lot...

Re: Penrax K3 weather sealing problem.

Thank you. I always seem to have problems getting these images to display. Can you let me know how I do it? I used Photo bucket and selected the link for
"forums and bulletin boards" but it still didn't work.
