Is it normal for Canon Rebels (T5i) to have creeky hand grips? Do you have one?

Im going to exchange mine today as I noticed over the past 2 weeks the top half of the hand grip has become creeky. It's the sound of plastic on plastic. It's kind of a clicking and creaking that I can feel in the handle when I grab and/or move the camera by the grip, which is a pain because the sounds is quite audible and makes the camera feel less solid.

I might be a bit OCD over this since it doesnt affect the functionality of the camera at all, but it bothers me each time i pick up the camera.  Just curious is this is a common problem on the T5is?  Hope my new one doesnt get this.

From what I see, there is no way to pop the hand grip off and stuff some padding inside the grip for more insulation.  Usually handgrips are easily removed on DSLRs but i guess not with Rebels.

Does anyone else have or seen creeky handgrips on rebels?  Id imagine, they only get worse over time, hence why im changing mine.

I experienced a very similar issue with my T4i (practically the same as the T5i).  The first T4i body I had did not squeak, but it was affected by the rubber grip recall, so I swapped it at Best Buy as soon as they received a new batch.  That second T4i made a very audible and annoying creaking sound when I held the top half of the grip, between the IR sensor and the lip underneath the shutter button.  It bothered me enough to exchange it for a third T4i, which fortunately has been perfect for over a year now.

That's pretty much common with any Rebel, some worse than others, and for a few, none at all. When you upgrade to the next level of prosumer bodies like the 70D or 6D that will be a non-issue.

I remember my first, the XTi creeked every time I handled it, but the replacement 40D was solid and built like a tank......

Interesting.  Wonder why this is a common problem on Rebels.  Is there no way to just pop the grip off and stick some foam down there or something?

I have two Canon T2i (550D) cameras.  I've never had a problem like that.  Both of mine feel really solid and strongly built.

Ditto for my T1i, which feels better (more solid) than the T5i and the 70D I tested a few weeks ago. The T1i feels more like the 50D (which definitely feels more solid than the newer models, to me).

I have noticed that a little bit from my 1.5 year old 80D, and a little bit on my daughter's 80D.  My 60D and 70D don't do it.
