M43: new lens(es) or the e-p5?

Hello there

Here is my stuff that I already own:

vf-2

14-42mm

75-300mm II

Industar 61 f2.8 (fully manual)

pentax 50mm f 1.7 (fully manual)

Thank you

it may all sound stupid, but I was thinking that all you experienced photographers could help me!

You seem to be short on primes, and as many will say, money is better invested in good glass, rather than camera bodies. Cameras come and go, but lenses prevail. So, my advise would be to build your lens collection first, and start thinking on upgrading your camera later.

You are talking here about two very high quality lenses, so I wouldn't give it a second thought. Go for them.

Another way of looking at it is: What the E-P5 will do for you, that the E-pl3 cannot?

What do you shoot?

Where do you find your current system falling short?

The newer body will get you higher res, ISO and WiFi... are any of these important to you?

+ 5 axis IS, focus peaking, built-in flash, 1//8000 shutter speed,  2 X2 control dials.

Totally different class.

Long term, no matter what you do, a fast 20/25mm and a 45mm are a lot of fun. The relatively low priced 7.5mm fisheye is also a riot, but it still needs a wide angle companion. Whew, that's a lot of glass.

Meanwhile, you have the 12MP sensor from 2010. It starts running out of gas at ISO 1600 and needs NR plug-ins and RAW to go higher.

How about a cheaper camera. I'm sure an EPL5 deal will re-appear in the near future, something like where the body is under $400. You're getting the same sensor upgrade of the the EP5. You keep your EPL3's tilt screen, but touch capability is added. Money left over for a fast prime, like the 17, 20, or new 25.

Tomorrow, we will find out what the bean counters at Olympus will do. Rumors say the new Oly 25 might be a $349 lens. I bet they stick it to their customers and ask $499.

Simple, get an E-PL5. The money saved over getting the E-P5 can then go towards some lenses.

Yeah, thanks lenses are properly the best investment, but I could use some more iq im really looking forward to see how the 25mm do in tests. The 2 main reasons for buying the e-p5 is the 5-axis and iq. It can get a little shaky when using my 75-300mm on the e-pl3 (2-axis)

thank again for replying

Re: What do you shoot?

Mostly a better censor and 5 axis ibis. I shoot mostly nature portraits (or whatever it's called) and wildlife ( birds etc.)

what are your thoughts on that?

thanks for replying

Re: M43: new lens(es) or the e-p5?

The epl5 is a very good idea, but I think I need a better ibis(for the 75-300mm, or experiment with a faster shutter), and is it a relatively big upgrade from the e-pl3?

Btw it's my first camera that's why I'm asking that stupid! I've had the e-pl3 for a year now, I shoot everyday and gone way better than when I bought it. Is it too fast to upgrade?

thanks for replying
