Sigma 150-500 on a D5100?

Is anyone using the Sigma 150-500mm lens on a D5100? If so what is it like. I also have a D700 and would use it on that too occasionally. I do have the Nikon 300mm F4 AF-S lens but for some reason it will not focus with the D5100 but works fine on my D700 and D800.

The D5100 is out of warranty so I would rather get the new lens or upgrade the d5100 camera than get the d5100 fixed. I really like the d5100 except for the lack of focusing motor so would probably get a D7100 if I upgrade instead but I would like more reach which is why I was thinking of the Sigma 150-500 lens.

Consider the new tamron instead from the results I've been seeing it looks like a better lens...problem is you'll have to wait a few months for it to be released for Nikon.

Thanks for the reply. I was not aware of that lens, have just done some research and it does look like a better lens overall. I will wait for the Nikon release to see.
