Firmware question

I have checked through these forums, conducted a google search, and come up empty handed. I have an EOS Digital Rebel XT (350D) and have noticed that I don't seem to have all the menus that I should have. I have tried to check my firmware, but the Settings 2 screen only lists Language, Video System, and Communication.

Is there another way to check my firmware revision?

Also, according to what I understand, there should be 5 top level menus- Camera 1, Camera 2, Play, Settings 1, and Settings 2. I am completely new to the DSLR cameras, and am wanting to learn as much as I can. Any help is very much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Re: Firmware question

According to both the review here and the user manual that I just downloaded from the Canon site, you are missing both the Shooting Menu 2 and 4 items from the Settings Menu 2. There is definitely a problem with the menu structure on that camera.

If the Mode Dial is set to one of the "Basic Zone" exposure modes (green box and icons), only 1/2 the Camera 1 and Setup 2 options are displayed (firmware being one of the suppressed options), and Camera 2 is not displayed at all.

Turn to one of the "Creative Zone" modes - P, Av, Tv, M or A-DEP - then all menus and settings will be available.

See p. 33-34 of the instruction manual.

Re: Completely normal

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was able to find that you were absolutely correct, and for some reason, those little dial steps seem to be implied everywhere I looked. Turns out that I am running 1.0.3, so no need for me to update anything.
