My first purchase for my new SD1M will be....

a high quality carbon fibre tripod, probably not everyone's first choice but this camera needs one as much as it needs decent glass IMHO. It's coming with the 70-200mm F2.8 APO and a couple of other lenses but I think a high quality but lightweight tripod is a must. Then it'll be the 8-16mm and 18-35mm. I'm selling my Canon 5D2 and lenses and some people will probably think I'm mad but having used the DP2X and loving it I've got the foveon bug. I'm also a bit of a sucker for off the radar gear and the SD1 certainly ticks that box. Anyway, that's enough thinking out loud, another SD1M user joins the fray!

Good choice. I did that for the DP Merrills (mainly) and for possible SDx DSLR in 2014.

I bought the Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 (5 kg limit though) with an Induro BHD0. I chose the PRO4 because of size (collapsed) and weight and that one can put the center rod horizontally for macro. The legs seemed also more sturdy than the Induro tripod. And I won't need something for more than 5 kg. The Induro ballhead I chose because I liked the handling of it and that it accepts Arca Swiss.

I had from before a cheap but heavy tripod, that just collected dust, so I decided to get a nice one that I'll bring.

Only thing missing now is a suitable quiver. Perhaps I'll sew one myself

Good luck finding a nice tripod

Thanks, I've already chosen one from a small quirky British company called 3 legged thing I'm going for the Eddie model (named after Eddie Van Halen I believe). It's a high quality unit which also has monopod capability and can take up to a 12Kg rig, it weighs just under 2kg with a carry case so I can live with that. It folds up pretty small which is what I was looking for. They're out of stock at the moment but there's no rush, I can wait, as an SD1 user it's something I'll have to get used to

As long as it is not Eddie the Eagle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_%22The_Eagle%22_Edwards

Definitely nothing to do with that Eddie

As I said, they're a quirky company, here's a quite amusing video on why they colour their tripods differently.

Definitely a good purchase. I was shooting the SD3M on a Dolica CX600 carbon fiber tripod last weekend. It was almost funny how lightweight that setup was compared to the image quality delivered. I use a Sunwayfoto L-plate/grip on the Sigma.
