The New NX 30 There is some good news for NX300 owners

I came to the 300 NX because of great image quality and small form factor. The just officially announced NX30 carries little appeal to me. After all if I want to take a DSLR with me, I will grab my 6D.

Perhaps there is hope that Samsung will eventually get a 300 EVU etc . The new lens 16 50 S f2  - 2.8 sounds like a wonderful addition to put on the 300.

And there is support for Dropbox. This should readily happen in FW upgrade for the 300. The missing info right now is , will any aspect of wifi on Samsung support RAW?

Although we may see the 30 as a repackaged 300 nonetheless it is encouraging and useful that Samsung is continuing on with real cameras and not going further down the dead end of the Galaxy NX

As with many things in life a great photograph has strong appeal for what is NOT in the picture.

I'm happy that somebody else also noticed that this nx30 is just a nx300 + evf + sw tune ups (achievable via fw, if samsung wants).

Out 1 year later nx300, at more than twice the current price.

I'm not saying it's bad, just saying that after so much time I was expecting something better.

We all could have guessed you wouldn't have been satisfied.

The sensor has been evolving continually since NX200.

They haven't said anything official about buffer depth.

The hump is off-centered toward the right, so your rangefinder rants are mitigate.

They included wireless flash.

They produced a fast zoom.

What really do you want from them in terms of "something better"?

Re: The New NX 30 There is some good news for NX300 owners

This is a new model, out 12 months after nx300 and about 24 after nx20. It introduces an apparently very nice tiltable evf, uses the sensor of nx300, which is in turn the same as nx20+pd, uses the same hw as nx300.

The things I'm not satisfied about nx300 are:

- no evf (satisfied by nx30)

- not top performance at high iso among aps-c (we'll see if nx30 does better, but I doubt)

- very poor buffer (again we'll see if nx30 does better, and I doubt this as well)

- good af, but can be improved in tracking moving subjects (em1 does much better and here as well we'll see if nx30 can do any better).

I'm not very interested in the big lens, though I'm happy it's out and not interested in the other new features).

Maybe you should re-think your priorities: the wide aperture fast-AF lens you're not interested in could go a longer way toward better AF tracking and low-light quality IQ than anything else imho...

Besides, all recent cameras bar the very best FF have similar IQ at high-ISO, you wouldn't be able to spot an NX1000 ISO 6400 30x40cm  print among its peers if I offered you a million dollar price and three guesses...

reportedly (as I dont have it) he gnx had tweaked sensor, I be amazed if the nx 30 isn't a new revision as well. NO company will produce a brand new sensor every iteration - it isn't feasible. Designing and producing the chips takes time. 1st iteration of a chip will be the base, subsequent will improve and optimize that. Those optimizations and lessons learned/new tech will go into the next chip design as well. 2015 is about the right time frame for a redesigned sensor to be ready as opposed to a tweaked one if you want it to be right.

The continued call for what is basically a moving goal from techno and co is just not realistic, sensible or possible. What is reasonable to ask is updated software to match and a quality evf attachment for the nx300.
