Look at the difference 30 minutes can make.
4

Hi there, I know some of you enjoyed the misty valley shots I showed last week, so I'd like to show you the difference 30 minutes, and two miles can make.

Both of the shots below, were taken with the same camera, a Samsung GALAXY NX, and the 18-55 m.m kit lens. They were captured  27 minutes apart, and two miles from each other, (closer than that, "as the crow flies").

The first one below was taken at Ferndale at 09.00 a.m. What do you think of that one?

The second one, below, was taken at 09.27 a.m. at Pen-Rhys.

Quite a difference isn't there?

Wow the second one with some post-processing (removing the branches, essentially) could make a killer shot !

Allan, from both pictures, it's hard for me to tell they are shots from the same location.

Hiya Kenny, they are not the same location, but the same valley, some two miles apart. The pic of the reflections in the lake was taken in the valley, while the pic of the mist was taken on the top of the mountain, looking down into the valley.

Streuth Allan, when I see photos like that it just reminds me to stop thinking about how many lens, filters blah blah I have and just focus on taking great pics.  Mind you I'm handicapped in that respect (landscape wise) as I don't live on the beautiful Welsh coast!

another wonderful shot, striking how localised the low cloud can be.

Allow me to share several photos of a similar case I took many moons ago. (was trying 3 shot hdr 1EV apart)

Hiya Adrian, It's good to know that you enjoyed these pics. Yes I understand how one can spend a lot of time getting too involved in all the "bits and pieces," that you "think," you will need. I find the NX kit lens to be great. These are SOOC jpgs no adjustment whatsoever. As for you being hadicapped by your location, I don't live on the coast, I'm up in the Rhondda Valleys, so I'm sure if you went for a walk around your area, you'd see something worth showing us. I want to get over to the Brecon Beacons to some shooting, but it is probably to close to Christmas now, I'll be to busy getting things ready for my two grandsons. Oh well, I'll do my best to get there next year. Thanks for your kind comments Adrian, haev a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Re: Look at the difference 30 minutes can make.

Hiya, I'm not a great fan of HDR images as they always look too "overprocessed," to me. This is of course my opinion of it, But I have to say I do like your images, may I ask where they were taken? I hope you have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

Nice pictures nx200user1. I like the first 2 pictures, and quite like the 3rd and 4th one. Thanks for sharing them.

Hiya MathOS, Sorry to have taken so long to reply to you, somebody left some Christmas booze lying around, so I had to tidy up the place. Well, you can't go throwing booze away, can you?

Here is the shot with some PPing as you asked. Is this more like what you had in mind?

Re: Look at the difference 30 minutes can make.

Think I prefer the original shot. It look more natural than the PP.

Btw, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Allan!
