Reports from the field (Best Buy)

Went to BestBuy yesterday.  Nice Samsung setup with galaxy S4, galaxy camera, AND NX300.  There were a couple of Samsung guys on the floor.  They didn't know a whole lot about NX300, but they knew the major talking points (mainly: "big sensor", "wifi connectivity").  Couldn't evaluate responsiveness, since they must have had an ancient memory card.  after a 3RAW burst in high-speed mode, it wouldn't take a photo for 10 seconds.  There was no "processing", but it's still useless if it takes 10 seconds to take another photo.  I hope this is just a slow memory card issue.

The rep. told me that he got training last week for Galaxy NX; which means they will have these on the floor soon (they don't train these guys for nothing).  When I told him the current MSRP, he said "no way!".  Leads me to believe there will be a major price cut and advertising/distribution push post-christmas.

For all the nay-sayers, re-read the press release about merging camera with phone divisions… it talks a lot about advertising and distribution.  There was only NEX and NX at BestBuy.  At costco there was Canon/Nikon (DSLR and J3) and Samsung (NX2000).  What people don't get:  camera shops are dead (unless you are in NYC and can go to B&H).  I have a feeling that Sony and Samsung will rule this thing in a few years time; for better or worse.

Think cell phones and solid state drives.

Interesting as I am on the other side of the pond cannot really add anything I can see the ploy of a price cut on the GNX to shift some stock. But we are all waiting for the new cameras to be announced.

What Samsung needs to do is not release a camera every year, but every other year and not all 3 of them at the same time. And I still dont get the point of the NXxxxx line.

That seems to be what they are doing with the NX## line, but then you get everyone on here complaining that they need an NX30 that can compete with everything from the other brands, and because something isn't released every year we hear the chants of 'NX is dead'!
