X-M1 Evening in Kiev

Thought may be I should share this - evening in Kiev. Basically a test shot, but I liked something about it. Fuji magic? :-).

I totally agree. There is a majic to X cameras ... the colours, even in night shots, look so so cool. Perhaps that 's the ... X factor :0)

I just like the colours of this shot, perhaps needs a bit of PP.

It is a nice shot, and i agree there is something about it that I like. My only criticism would be that there looks like a small amount of motion blur in the image, which was probably because of the shutter speed and I am supposing it was handheld. At ISO 800 the X-E1 should have had a bit more sharpness than I see. But of course that is pixel peeping, and without doing that it looks very nice, and would probably print well. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for your nice comments. ThachLy - amazing colors!

Yes, there is a fair amount of motion blur in that picture. It is not camera's fault though, it is the shooter. Had to do it on the run because I had two little evil clowns by my side whining: "daddy it has got far too cold...", "I am hungry..." and "you really, really, got us with that stupid little camera...". So, I had to do it all on the run :-).

Well, under the circumstances, that's one of the best shots I have ever seen. Truly miraculous.

I can hardly wait to see what you come up with when you have more than 5 un-interrupted seconds to turn the camera on, set it for the scene, compose and shoot.

Keep it up,

The sky and shadow areas are well exposed. Did you use the DR settings to capture this exposure range? It would seen difficult to get all that in without it. I us that function often with great success.

Fuji colors have always been a source of  praise...

Wondering how the XA1  would  compare  image quality wise....

Yes, I believe I had DR set at 400. I also had Highlights at -2 and Shadows at -2 as well. In my experiences this settings give the best DR.

But this particular file is not an in-camera jpeg. I shot raw and then converted it to jpeg using silkypix at all default settings. I remember that I so liked the result on opening the file that I did not feel the need to change anything and I just went ahead and saved the jpeg file. That's all.

Disappointed. I expected to see photographs of clashes with riot police from Iron Maidan

Here are some interesting pictures from Maidan, some of them are very touching:

Some of them show the opponents (the angry, ageless ladies)

It is not Fuji though :-).

I am with all my heart with these people, but I got ill and have to stay at home for a while. Will join them later. I believe they will hold out.

Thanks for posting the demonstration pictures. Looks like history is being written as we speak but the outcome is not certain. Too much pre-occupation with trying to get the exact size of the crowd though...good luck to you - stay safe!

what a waste...

And this is all you were able to photograph in Kiev today?  What a waste of fine photo equipment.    I'd say go out on the streets and capture some history in the making...
