Mendocino again (non-Leica content)

Mendocino is a treat to visit.  Post processed with NIK.

Re: Mendocino again (non-Leica content)

having seen a number of monochrome shots now posted here I believe the camera is really a medium format camera as the tonalities and number of discernable tones. I am truly impressed and I would sell the farm for one. maybe some day

The 1" sensor does very well in good light.

Just to clarify for which camera did you write such a nice comment? Because the image in original post is taken with an RX10 which is a Sony camera with a 1" sensor .

But I will agree with you that the image and the bw tones look good. Is this OOC jpeg?

I played with NIK software to get the effect.  So... it is fairly heavily PP'ed.  Yes, this is the RX-10 with the 1" sensor.

It's not a great image. cropping the ground has effectively cropped the context so people won't be able to see a good slice of Mendocino, but simply a flag, sign and some sky.

Go easy on the Structure sliders in NIK too.

Thank you.  Actually my bigger gripe with the image is where to align to.  I made certain parts vertical, but others seem out of kilter.

I have to say that seems over processed to me.

Why can't we see what is without trying to turn it into something different.

My apologies if that is a bit harsh.

Mendecino is beautiful would love to spend some serious time there,

Here is my viewpoint,

Kind regards,

Oliver

Re: Mendocino again (non-Leica content)

To the OP:  Alas, I agree with "ngatov" who posted above, with respect to the composition.  IMO, the scene itself conveys little about Mendocino as a place, except the superficial identification of the store sign.  The scene could be anywhere and it does not strike me as particularly interesting.  I am not a post-processing expert so I have no comment on that.  To me, the sky is very dramatically rendered but overwhelms the rest of the picture.
