K-3, All Clear!
20

Now that the K-3 has been "certified" to be good again!

Another bird image from my study shot through the window sitting on my comfortable warm chair!

Still learning how to adjust to the new Pentax Auto Focus system - like when to use all 27 points and when to just use 9 points. Centre point is what I am used to!

Cheers

Re: K-3, All Clear!

Excellent detail and fine shot!  Very shallow DOF - see it is 200mm- which lens? 60-250?

And I may see some banding on the bird's left foot

Re: K-3, All Clear!

Hi Garth,

Glad you like it.

It was K-3 with the Tamron 70-200mm (a very good lens for the money!), Handheld sitting on a comfy chair, Raw converted to jpeg.

Cheers

Hi Bajerunner,

I was amaze of the detail after I post process the image!

That's the benefit of shooting raw.

Hi Wallace,

Certified by Ed the PhotoUniverse - He did keep us suspended waiting for him to reveal his findings!

Thanks Ed - we like you!

Me too (nobody listen!) - I have been saying the K-3 is the best Pentax DSLR to date!

Can't wait for Pentax's Full Frame!

Cheers

Glad you like the bird SBS!

It was easy and comfy shooting from my study!

That plant is a really nice natural bird feeder. Unfortunately the little red berries are almost gone - eaten by the Cardinal and this little bird.

Cheers

Where exactly is your study? The Royal Canadian Aviary?

Still learning how to adjust to the new Pentax Auto Focus system - like when to use all 27 points and when to just use 9 points.

In a controlled environment where you have the leisure to decide -- not with flitting birds. (Focus stacking can be very nice.)

And, yes, another beautiful image!

Nobody listens to you two because A.) you guys know what your doing, and B.) there's nothing dramatic in logically working through a problem.

Start hand wringing and arbitrarily declaring any camera is garbage and EVRYONE is listening... Just sayin'

The image of your house in the reflection of the birds eyeball is not sharp, better work on your technique...

Or maybe the K-3 is just garbage after all, or malfunctioning and needs a firmware update.

(OK, I just couldn't resist. My bad.)

I'll wait until its 'really, really clear.'

There is just to much tap dancing over something as basic as clear autofocus to dive in for my purposes.  After five Pentax frames that I still have,  and delving off into the Nikon frames, I've learned my lesson(s).

I'll wait at least another month to see if Ricoh releases a firmware option ..

Re: K-3, All Clear!

WOW !!! I put that on 1:1 and the detail and sharpness is insane...............

Not to mention there's something 'magical' about the composition.

That's a print i'd pay money for, very nice capture and well worth blowing up.

Re: K-3, All Clear!

Good one. The near feathers are sharp, but the head is a little blurry. I'm not sure 1/250 is enough for these small birds.
