I would love to step up to the EF 100mm L IS lens, but my budget could only swing the EF-S 60mm.  The focusing on this lens is lightning fast compared to anything else I own.  This lens is razor sharp.  The only thing I miss is VC, but at 1/3 the cost of its L-series big brother, I can't complain.  Construction is solid, and the focus ring is nicely dampened.

Re: My favorite lens

I think it is a great lens, but must say that I rarely use autofocus for close subjects.

Re: My favorite lens

I've used the AF for insect photography -- bees and butterflies.  On my 450D the center point is more accurate and likely to lock on the subject.

For macro work I tend to use MF with LV.
