Kangaroos, Parrots and the Panasonic 20mm 1.7 ii

Pics from a trip to the bird park with an epl-5 and 20mm 1.7 ii. First proper outing for the lens and thought I'd add to the mix of photos for the second coming of the 20mm to help others make their mind up about it. The Pics were taken early afternoon in the WA sun so there shouldn't be any banding... If anything I'd like a faster shutter than 1/4000 or for Olympus to create a built in ND filter.

Wow you did such a nice job, getting up close to the parrots and kangaroos.  The colors are very nice as is the bokeh.  The only comment I have is that #1 would be better if not shot into a bright background or maybe with fill flash if that is unavoidable.

Thanks, your feedback is appeeciated. The $1 bag of feed at the door really paid off for getting close.

I've been tossing up getting a nice flash for a while but a lot of my photos are taken in bright light so with the flash there would also be a couple ND filters and knowing me a slippery slide down the path of GAS for a few other bits that I'd use sparingly. My thoughts of getting into m43s was to lighten my camera load, although a good quality flash would be nice... I might go trawl the forums for flash suggestions haha.

You really nailed the focus - well done and tack sharp at original size.

Thank you all for the feedback, re getting the focus right I'd like to say all the pics were focused nicely but that would be a bit of a stretch of the truth.

Nice shots. Especially the second kangaroo shot.

Were there any wallabies as well? I really like those mini-kangaroos!

There was one wallaby in a gated pen but it was hiding about 20m away behind a tree (i think it was a bit weary of the emus next door) so it was a bit too far for the 20mm to get. If you like small marsupials I reccomend a trip to Rotnest Island off Perth to see the Quokkas, you'll be tripping over them there's so many and they are not shy at all.

Hi, these are lovely shots. For flash, you might want to consider the Olympus FL300R. I don't have it but have read some very nice things about it here on the forum (try searching DPR) It's small, light and not expensive.
