I'd like the next NX lens to be... [poll]

Unfortunately I agree and that's what I tried to point out for weeks, now.

And the worst part...is knowing that samsung never listens to these forums. Perhaps they don't even read them at all. They just seem uninterested.

I think you're a bit confused. I don't see flood of new models from Panasonic or Sony. What I see is flood of rumors. there are rumors very day but actual products don't appear so often. let's take on Sony:

- where is the update to NEX-7? users are really asking about it

- there is plenty of nex-5 models but all of them are very similar

- lens situation is still worse then Samsung

- the only new products is FF, which is not interesting to me anyway because of the cost of body and lens

Now Panasonic:

- their G5, G6, GF5, GF6 iterations are exactly the same

- GH3 was long awaited upodate of GH2

- the new camera is GX-7

How does the samsung compare? NX1000, NX200, NX210, NX2000, NX300, NX20 - I think Samsung is not at all behind Sony and Panasonic when it comes to number of releases. What is see is marketing buzz and constant rumors, not actual products. Grass is always greener elsewhere. Though I admit rumors help to survive untile the next release. Time to start rumors about NX30

The more I read on this forum, especially about the range of lenses, the more I can't help thinking expectations are way too high about what Samsung should be providing (and I put myself at the top of the list). Yes we can all have so called 'ideal' focal lengths be they prime or zoom, and we will continue to nitpick about IQ etc but let's remember that the Samsung range is not in the professional photographer arena. It's a great 'keen amateur' set of cameras and lenses. I've seen some truly fabulous pictures taken with various nx camera/lens set ups posted on here. Just accept how good the set up is for the money   Soapbox moment finished... Phew

I have the same feeling that m43, nex and fuji x are moving faster.

m43 is now a mature system but the smaller sensor prevents this system from offering the same possibilitied as aps-c with dof.

Sony nex has a nice NEX6 body but the lens lineup isn't sexy at all, especially in the fast primes department. There is evolution in the nex system,  but this evolution seems quite random.

Fuji has sexy retro looking bodies, an unique sensor tech and a clever ambitious lens lineup with fast primes. Also, they are following a clear roadmap and there is a reliable official roadmap. The system isn't cheap,  but it delivers what it promises.

In Samsungland, we have this nice little poll. We have a great sexy nx300 with sadly no optional evf. We have the prototypic Android Galaxy nx. We are waiting for the nx20 successor (nx20 being a solid but not sexy camera). We have a nice set of compact prime lenses,  rather ordinary zoom lenses and a gorgeous 85mm f1.4. But we don't know what to expect from the future bodies and we have no idea about what the true lens roadmap is. Hopefully we will soon hear about interesting announcements on the nx frontline and there will still be bargains to enjoy among the nx street prices (the official prices are too high IMO).

I can't vote in the poll on dpr mobile site, but the faster standard lens and fast tele options are both appealing. Given the current lens lineup, the tele end is the one with more holes, so I would shuffle around your poll options a bit. After the fast 24, I would add a f/1.4 58mm. This would play like an 85mm f/2 on FF. The NX 85mm f/1.4 is like a 135mm f/2 on FF. Good stuff. Next up: 135mm f/2 (Pricy option, 200mm f/2.8-ish.) or 135mm f/2.8 (200 f/4, still really nice.). Then: 200mm f/2.8. (Think 300mm f/4.2) This is where the advantage of APS-C vs FF really becomes apparent. I have a range of Minolta MC/MD lenses, and use them on both the NX and a Minolta SRT-200 (35mm film) which allows me to directly compare size/view/DoF/etc. I have a 200mm f/4 Minolta lens, which gives me the reach of a 300mm lens in FF. I also have a 300mm f/4.5 Minolta, and I can tell you the space/weight savings is huge. That one lens probably outweighs the rest of my kit, camera, 10 lenses and extra batteries included. I like using it on the NX for certain occasions, but it is a little silly. A 300mm f/2.8 would be nuts. I think a much better option would be to provide a 2x teleconverter along with a 200mm f/2.8. The resulting 400mm f/5.6 setup would have the reach of a 600mm in FF but in a package that is a tiny fraction of the size/cost. (You could put the lens in your existing tiny mirrorless camera bag. A 300 f/2.8...? No.) The Big Boy pro tele lenses with 5-digit price tags use teleconverters, and I think it's a sensible approach for NX too.

Will this make NX much more propular? linger primes is a niche. It will not bring many new customers. Samsung wants to appeal to masses and I understand it. Masses = zooms. But of course everyone can have a wish list and I hope Samsung will address it all

My vote goes to a 16-80f4 (or f3.5-4,5 like mentioned in previous roadmaps), not really for video uses but rather as an allround performer to carry when traveling.

My 24-105f4L is probably the lens I have used the most for my 5D.

It could even be a pancake. But would be too similar to 30mm, to sell well. That's why f1.4 would probably be better, even if more expensive.

i think i would like to see something longer than 85mm and a prime with f2 to f2.8 aperture any focal length as they are very short on options for the longer focal length.

but with this i would like to see a nx30 with decent viewfinder and a good flashgun with built in wireless control

All I want to know is when the NEW is coming out preferably with a bit of accuracy. Not hitting at you just wish Samsung would get into second gear.

None of these interest me, alas. I was hoping for a couple of fast primes ala Fuji, of course not pancakes:  something Samsung is lacking.

23 f1.4 and 35 f1.4 is all I'd want from samsung in the lens sector. After those, a 56 f1.2  Fuji anyone?

I think Samsung have enough low weight, standard lens for beginners, they need more professional lens like 85mm. Otherwise some consumers will find their is nothing to update so that they have to change to another brand....
