Shutdown Fallout: Obama Approval Rating Slides to 37 Percent

Townhall.com

"Most Americans disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job, the poll suggests, with 53 percent unhappy with his performance and 37 percent approving of it. Congress is scraping rock bottom, with a ghastly approval rating of 5 percent. Indeed, anyone making headlines in the dispute has earned poor marks for his or her trouble, whether it's Democrat Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, or Republican John Boehner, the House speaker, both with a favorability rating of 18 percent."

No wonder Obama blinked first. 37% ouch!

As financial markets show signs of worry, White House plans meetings with lawmakers

'With financial markets reflecting growing concern about the potential for a U.S. default, the White House on Wednesday announced a series of meetings with lawmakers from both parties to focus on the government shutdown, looming debt crisis and festering fiscal stalemate."

Even with the non-stop propaganda from the leftist media, Obama numbers are still taking a huge hit.

Congress' approval rating? 5%
4

And 62% blame the Republicans for the shutdown.

Ted Cruz is viewed unfavorably 2 to 1.

Read your source again.  From your own link "Fifty-two percent said Obama is not doing enough to cooperate with Republicans to end the shutdown; 63 percent say Republicans aren't doing enough to cooperate with him."

And I suppose you are going to tell us that Congress has a higher approval rating than Obama as well?

Obama is the one who's suddenly willing to negotiate. I bet ol' Bill Clinton must have given him a call and told him it was time to grow up.

So you consider his willingness to talk to GOP in the face of the potential disaster a weakness? If two men stand in front of the speeding train and one decides to step off the track while the other gets plastered all over the place, he is the "weak" one or just "smart"?

His mistake was allowing the illegal protest at the mall happen but not allow our vets to visit an open memorial.  This discretionary decision has not gone unnoticed and trust me when I tell you there's not a single war vet that I know that cares a lick about this administration.   Hopefully the rest of the American populous will know that we have an Administration that sees vets as fodder for the slaughter too and kick the rest of the unpatriotic dems out.   Joe Mansion continues to gain my respect though and he really needs to consider changing parties.  Only good Democrat that I see now and if was in my state, I would vote for him.

Right now the Republican Party has an approval rating of 28%, which exactly lines up with the number of republicans who believe Obama was born in Kenya and is a muslim.

This is the republicans only constituency now.  They have thrown away the rest of party.

The American public is waking up to the truth of the vindictive man child he is, despite his media sycophants trying to cover him.

First he punished conservatives with the IRS, now he is punishing all of us.

The beltway crowed is terrified that the American public will look around and realize we don't need all this monstrous government after all, so they are trying to inflect as much pain as possible.

Despite their best efforts it is not working and Americans are waking up the truth.

Or time to stop being an "Amateur".

Hell, it's going on six years, and he is still the "Amateur" as Bill believed when BHO first started out as POTUS.

You mean President Obama is sitting in the White House directly involved in every little detail of what to shut down and what not to?

And, as I read it, a number of people were arrested, including members of Congress, all of whom are democrats, in the protest on the Mall.

Where were the republican members of Congress during the protest? They must like the shut down, don't you think?

The so called leftist media doesn't really have to do much.  This is out and out treason on the part of the Repubs but it will come back to bite em'.  Here in Australia we have just gotten a new right wing gov. (installed by Murdoch) after the success of years of the same kinds of strategies (from the Murdock play book).  Now the mongrels are in they can't seem to do a thing or get anything right and the left have respected democracy and let them get established.  All of the promises that they have attempted to implement have backfired and the government is losing money left right and center.  It's very soon out of the gate but the public are starting to miss the government that kept us out of the GFC.

Right wing mud slinging is to be expected but if all the party can do is oppose what the sitting party is doing then when it succeeds and the mud sticks it does tend to stuff up badly on it's feet of clay.

It depends whose poll your read.

Thirty-eight percent of Americans said Republicans were to blame for the shutdown, versus 30 percent who blame the Obama administration and 19 percent who blame both, according.....

Their MO is always the same, kick back for the super rich, run the country in permanent austerity, cut back on all government services.  Here in WA, when the Barnett government came to power in 2008 the state debt was $3.7 billion, now budget predicted a $47 billion debt by 2023. They are now drastically cutting back everywhere, when they have been sailing over a 10-year mining boom, our utilities have skyrocketed. Who benefited from the mining boom? I guess we know the answer.

Gina Rinehart is so happy about the new government.

“BILLIONAIRE mining magnate Gina Rinehart flew Coalition MPs, including the Liberal Party's deputy leader Julie Bishop and Nationals Senate leader Barnaby Joyce, to take part in a sumptuous three day-wedding of a prominent Indian industrialist in Hyderabad. Ms Rinehart took the Canberra delegation by private jet to a Reddy family wedding earlier this week.”

The party for the top rich has already begun.
