Jaray NX lens adapter for Nikon lenses to NX mount
1

Just bought a Jaray NX lens adapter.

It allow Samsung NX camera (except NX1000) to use most Nikon F mount lenses produced since 1977 including AI-S, AF-D, AF-S, DX, G and VR type lenses, no VR function though.

Or course any Nikon lens + lens adapter combi with NX camera body purely in manual focus and use under Aperture/Shutter priority or Manual mode. By pressing the center OK button on the NX300 camera, will enable focus peak function to get the correct focus confirmation.

Currently I'm using it with my 2 Nikon mount lenses, the Nikon 50mm F1.8D and Tamron SP AF Di 90mm F2.8 Macro (272E).

The Nikon 50mm lens will be use mostly for indoor portrait shots. The Tamron 90mm macro lens will be use for 1:1 macro shots (no suprise ;-)) and outdoor portrait shots. Also, combining the Tamron 90mm macro lens with my Fotga 10+16+16+16mm extension tubes can shot higher than 1:1 macro shots too.

Below some of their pictures to share with all.

Nikon 50mm F1.8D locked at F22, aperture opened fully using the aperture control ring on Jaray Nikon-NX lens adapter.

Nikon 50mm F1.8D locked at F22, aperture closed down to the smallest using the aperture control ring on Jaray Nikon-NX lens adapter.

Tamron SP AF Di 90mm F2.8 Macro (272E) + Jaray Nikon-NX lens adapter mounted on my NX300 camera.

And we  we proud owners of NX1000 cameras are gonna do now ?  I think in order to retain the remnants of honour we'll need  to commit hara-kiri...

It looks good but why do you say it won't work on an NX1000?   To the best of my knowledge, the nx lens mount is the same on all NX models and so is its functionality.

Re: Jaray NX lens adapter for Nikon lenses to NX mount

I was told by the seller, they has customers told them lens adapter does not work on NX1000 camera.

It was due to the lens detection proximity switch/button inside the NX1000 lens mount position slightly different from others NX camera thus caused "No lens" error and camera wouldn't take any shots.

Anyway, I've just re-checked with the seller, their NX1000 customer tested an alternate way to use this lens adapter. They use a small cardboard jamming the lens detection button and it work normal. Doing this the "No lens" error disappear.

Although I don't see any big deal or problem by doing that, as the cardboard can be removed easily, but it is at individual risk doing the switch jamming. Anything go wrong might just void the camera warranty.

There's alternate work around using this Jaray lens adapter on NX1000.

Your chance of executing the hara-kiri action was out of luck, and rejected by all.

I purchased the Rainbow Imaging adaptor for Nikon G lenses on the NX300. Their site says it will fit the following:  Samsung NX NX1000 NX210 NX200 NX20 NX10 NX5 ...

It fits my NX300 and Nikon 50mm 1.8 nicely, tight, but not overly tight with no wobble or looseness.  I haven't tried it with my Nikon 18-200mm Zoom as I use the Samsung 50-200mm for telephoto.

Overall quite pleased, price was about $21.00 direct from their site.

Now seriously: I have "to NX body" adapters for Pentax, T-mount, m-42, Minolta, Konica and God knows what else and all of them work with my NX1000 flawlessly ( might have to give some extra twist back and forth on PK-NX but it's not big deal - Pentax has been known to be a stubborn and awkward  gear anyway). Never tried Nikon or Canon adapters, though ...

The Rainbow Imaging adapter for Nikon G lens looked exactly the same like mine. Does it come with the Nikon lens aperture lever moving latch at inner side of the adapter?

Think they are the same Jaray made lens adaptor. According to Jaray, they had a numer of NX1000 customers feedback before, saying the same lens adapter we're using could not work. It is not until the customer jamming the lens detection button using a cardboard.

Also, think we having the same gear Nikon 50mm F1.8D + Jaray Nikon-NX lens adapter.

That's good choice too, especially with Pentax-NX lens adapter. Pentax make quite many very good IQ lens in the past. Another good point was they still in the business, so getting genuine lens part and service should be easy.

You can also buy into Sigma/Tamron/Tokina lenses with Pentax mount to be use with Pentax-NX lens adapter.

Sorry atarget, I did not speak to the true of my heart on my last reply to you.

Actually if you haven't start buying into any other camera brand lenses, my best advice to you was to buy into Nikon lens system.

The reason is. As of today Nikon still producing lenses with aperture ring. Even if you buy into has those G lenses, they still come with aperture control level which you can use a lens adapter with aperture control ring to access Nikon G lens aperture control.

Another reason was, due to larger market stake, there are more used Nikon lenses then other brands (maybe Canon has more as they're no.1 camera maker?).

Lastly, Nikon has the widest compatibility range between their old & new camera bodies, old & new lenses. That mean Nikon camera bodies and lenses are more plug & play even if it was make in 1960's.

I also have Pentax K-5 body and my favorite lens for that system if SMC Pentax-m 50mm f/1.7.

Osawa 28mm f/2.8 and Takumar bayonet 135mm f/2.5 are great lenses, too .

Additionally I purchased whole battery of manual Samyang/Rokinon  PK mount glass. IQ and mechanics are spectacular here.

I love versatility of  NX's short flange distance so much that I began buying legacy glass from various camera brands....

Kenny, wife has Nikon Coolpix L26  P&S and it's all she needs  for photography

I'm open to Nikon manual glass, too and I'm pretty sure I will start buying it soon  together with NX adapter. I don't rule out Canon craze, either

But as of today I'm  truly fascinated with Minolta's   SRT-101    fully mechanical body ( I acquired two immaculate copies of it and will keep them as a legacy for my grandchildren) and system's Rokkor series of  lenses.

Both Minolta's SRT-101 look immaculate enough. Great choice! They surely justify as collector item camera.

Gorgeous! Did you use focus peaking for those?

How does this lens compare to samsung 60mm macro?

Re: Jaray NX lens adapter for Nikon lenses to NX mount

Thanks for your nice words tecnoworld.

Yes, I've taken them mostly with focus peaking to shift the DOF. It really make me feel very happy that our beloved NX300 having this features.

I used to owned some of macro lens from Canon, Nikon and Oly, also inclluding the older version of this Tamron 90mm F2.8 lens. 90mm and above focal length macro lenses have greater working distance than the 60mm version.

That's also the reason why I've previously hesitated to go for a Samsung 60mm macro lens. If Samsung going to release any macro of 90mm, 135mm or even 200mm, then I surely go for them without any hesitation.

Yep, looks exactly the same, with lever as well.   As you say, both probably made by same company.
