The Panasonic Lumix S5II launched the second generation of Panasonic’s full-frame mirrorless camera system and was the first Panasonic to feature phase detect autofocus. As our review reveals, it’s a heck of an all-around camera for both still and video shooters.

And here it is. The small lens is the 35/1.8E

I don't have a chance to look at the raw files yet but I just wanted to say thank you for posting them.
You are welcome...

firstly for about $1000 for this lens it must give better images than the kit lens.
secondly mounted on the NEX7 or even 5n the combo seems unbalanced because of it large size and weighs heavier then the kit lens.
The 2 reasons above convince me that answer is NO.
Thanks Wolfgang for the shots. I find the lens to be very impressive, especially for a zoom. I wonder, how is the AF. Is it comparable, or better or worse than the kit lens?

Just received the new Zeiss 16-70/f4Z, and went out for some shooting today.
Over on my site there is a test frame with NEX7 and 16-70/f4 Zeiss. Wonderful glas. I was always annoyed with the kit – lenses (16-50 oder 18-55), either distortion or CA or both. Here: Nothing at all. Tack sharp, and printed on an Z3200 in A3+ on FineArt paper: Very detailed rendering.
At last a matching lens for the NEX7. No for a 55-210/f4Z...
For all the pixel peepers: There is also a link to the original RAW/DNG file.

Wolfgang, I assume that you have the E1855 and/or the E1650P?
If so, could you put side-by-side images (and crops) taken with one (or both) of the kit lenses and the E1670 (maybe at 35mm FL)?
I like the image of the Riesenrad very much - it has amazing detail and sharpness, and I assume that you did this in RAW without any post processing? (The EXIF reads ISO-100, 1/400th, 70mm, f/5.6, EV +0.7).
For the E1855 and/or E1650P, I'd suggest JPG (let the camera do the CA and lens distortion adjustment).
I am looking for visual proof that justifies the expense of the E1670Z over either kit lens, and am hoping that perhaps you can show us this?
Cheers,
Henry
Rawtherapee shows 4015x6020 pixels so there is very small correction on the wide side, maybe some vignetting correction. Also overall image looks darker in rawtherapee compared to lightroom. Thanks again.

I just checked: It was a little tilted, and I corrected that in the JPG!

Hello Henry!
I own the 16-50P, and I will do some shots with both. Just give me a day or two...
The "Riesenrad" is shot in RAW, and as always ETTR (a slight over-exposure), because it is better to recover highlights than shadows. And I found the NEX7 perfectly capable of going up to +2 EV.
On this shot it´s +0,7, that was enough to have structure in the foreground without blowing out the highlights.

... buy a Sony product one last time. I'm quite happy with the 18-55 mm, at least enough that I don't bother to use my A-Mount 16-80 mm (partly because it's much bigger, partly because I don't want to exclude myself from shooting an occasional video clip), but this looks like a Winner

Thank you, that's great.
The more I think about it, the more I am starting to like that lens. Â Oh, my aching wallet.Â

Wow very nice sample shots there. Really really good. I have seen few more review of photos, very impressive. This is very tempting that I want to get one. It will blow my 18-55mm kit out of house. lol $1200 in Australia to purchase though so next fortnight I might get one as long as it is not sold out hopefully!
My sel1670z has arrived one week earlier than expected. About 15 minutes ago
1 thing I already noticed is that it focusses faster than my other sony lenses. Now installing PDAF update. I'm curious.
Has anyone else been getting 'delay' emails from Sony, in regards to 1670z?
This is the second email I've received:
Thank you for your recent Sony purchase.
We would like to inform you we are experiencing a delay with your Sony order. The following item SEL1670Z has been rescheduled to ship on 09/22/2013.
Tracking information will be sent via email once your order ships. This number will also be available within the order history in your Sony Account. If you are unable to continue waiting we encourage you to visit our website or call 1-866-337-7669 to work with a Sony sales representative to find an alternative product that will meet your needs.
We appreciate your understanding and thank you for choosing Sony!
Sincerely, Sony Customer Care store.sony.com
I'm not worried because it's "delaying" it to the expected shipping date, but find it interesting that I keep getting these.
