Not great, but very versatile

The optics are not up to Olympus' best, but certainly quite usable, and a very useful zoom range weatherproofing, a useful macro function, and an electronic zoom for video make this a very useful little lens.

Hi erichK,

this is the Olympus forum where the lenses don't come off the camera, you need to post at the M4/3rds forum

cheers

I have no idea how this ended up here.  Just made the mistake of wasting time posting my equipment on DPreviews ever-more cluttered, ever more commercial website, and pushed the wrong button trying to add this quick caption.

Thanks just bought one on ebay.  Canada Post is supposed to deliver tomorrow.  Seems like a good compromise lens for my GH3.  This will be my "Normal" lens for my building inspections.  My other zooms and primes will have their uses but the weatherized features of the GH3 and the Zuiko  12-50 should keep my investment safe from weather and dust.  More extreme conditions I have my Olympus TG-1 and Sony TX10

Very fair review, I share your sentiments about the lens!
