not bad at all on a ff sensor

Got it used while my 24-105 L lens was in the shop getting repaired.  When I got it back I compared it in real life shots to the 24-105.  I found there was very little difference on my canon 6d body.   It is lighter and smaller.  I will be using it a lot as my walk about lens.  This will save wear on my L lens.  The L lens will be stricly for busness use

Confirmed

If you get a good copy, the 28-135IS is a good choice, because of it's zoom range and the IS, not to forget the price.

The 24-105L is not that much better to justify the price difference. If IQ is most important, primes or the 24-70/2.8 is the way to go.

The sceptics might have a look at this:

I passed on the 6D bundle and got the body only, because I already had the 28-135IS and didn't regret it. I prefer to invest the saved money in something better than the 24-105L. The 50/1.4 was a first start ... I missed a fast lens for small DoF and low light in my lineup

My travel lenses...

The 28 - 135 is one of two travels lenses I bring along (I own 9 lenses).  The other lens is "fast" but smaller, like the Canon 35mm f2 or my Original Canon 50mm f1.8 mk 1.  I like smaller when I travel, leave the 5D 2 on the shelf and bring my Xsi.

'Save wear'? Seriously?

Not sure what you mean by that, but I want to use the best of what I own until it is a pile of parts, which will be a very long time.
