Konica 50mm f/1.7 & 1.4 reviewed with NEX-7
From verybigloboskie blog. Excellent reviews on many lens
Both Konica Hexanon lenses are great performers. Outstanding sharpness, together with lack of CA, neutral color rendition, very good contrast and pleasant bokeh, makes them hot candidates for the best legacy 50mm lenses. Between the two, I would personally choose faster one, because the price difference is rather small, and one extra stop, as well as half click stops of the aperture and shorter minimum focusing distance makes more attractive in my eyes. However with f1.7 you get smaller and better balanced body on Sony NEX which for some, could be a deal breaker.
I actually just bought a New Old Stock Konika Hexanon AR 1.4 based partially on that review!
Great info and loving the lens.
I also bought a New Old Stock Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f 1.4 a month ago, but I still prefer the 1.7 version especially for its sharpness.
I will be getting a 1.7 this week as I won that auction before I saw the 1.4 plus I have a Pentax A 1.7 and the SEL50f18 coming tomorrow so I will have a showdown of 50mm at home
1.7/50 is my favorite MF lens. 1.8/50 is well regarded too. 1.4/57 has nice character, good for portraits. 1.2/57 is a lens to be desired. These Hexanons are just great.
1.4/50 is on my wish list. Some reports can be found on the net, pointing at this flaw
Can someone with 1.4/50 confirm? Thanks!
EDIT: As always, great stuff from verybiglobo.blogspot.com
