Rainbow lorikeets
8

Saw these guys in my street so I dashed home to grab the camera. These are with the E-M5 and 75 /1.8. It was a really sunny day so I had to spot meter on the birds and blow out the background to avoid shooting silhouettes. These are cropped but otherwise the same as OOC.

Re: Rainbow lorikeets

One of many reasons to feel fortunate about living in Australia must be these beautiful, colorful, camera tolerant little birds.  Nice shots.

Our local birds don't hold a candle to the Lorikeets' riot of color.

Beautiful...

There are times when a 'blown out' background works to a subject's advantage, and this is a perfect example. The saturation is concentrated in the bird and the flowers right where he is perched -- the background is not at all distracting.

Great focus and sharp detail -- nice work! The 75mm didn't hurt your efforts either.

God Bless,

Greg

Downright GORGEOUS !!!

Absolutely beautiful shots and subject. Even the pink blossoms are amazing to see with this bird, very envious this side of the Tassie. I just LOVE IT !!

Had one in a tree at the estuary where I shoot, but with the sun behind it, not so good. We are getting a few here now and again in NZ, but man would I love a few shots like yours.

All the best ....... and these shots certainly are the best.

Danny.

Re: Rainbow lorikeets

These images are absolutely beautiful. The composition is spot on and the back light really makes the subjects pop. The level of detail in the birds and lack of artifacts from the back lighting speaks volumes about the quality of the lens.

Nicely done. The exposure was obviously tricky but you got it right.

Well composed images too, as others have said.
