The new Nikon 80-400mm is pretty good, so if Pentax can make one as good and WR it would be great.

Re: Any details about coming Pentax announcements?

Ricoh has made his branding strategy clear, that "Ricoh" is to be used for compact and niche cameras and "Pentax" for DSLR's. We see the building-up of the new DSLR series (K-500, K-50). Something higher has to be added. Will it be a K-5II new modification or a completely new high-end model? This is the question to be answered, I hope.

IMO for the money its junk... ok its very good up to 200mm then it just gets weaker and weaker and for over $2000 it is junk, IMO it should sell for no more than $1400 based on quality, that said it is better than the old one.

Mike,

i have to agree for the price, it's quite high ! The lens is better than the older one though.

I don't know how it compares to the Canon 100-400 and Sony 70-400mm (that Sony is not cheap either).

It is shown as DA only. It doesn't excite me much if we get slow big brother for DA 55-300. However,

120-380/5.0 or even classic 120-400/5.6 would be OK.

If it had to be 120-380, F5.0 would give you an 82mm thread so i doubt that...

Me too. There is always place for dreams in this world

The 380mm (approximate, however) sounds very unusual, so I'd like to hope for the faster aperture.

Re: Asahi Man

Hmm.. just thinking a 120-360mm F3.5-5.0 would be interesting But an 80-360mm F3.5-5.0 would be even more fun

Agree!

Let me correct that, lets keep the numbers in even ratios, a 90-360mm F3.5-5.0
