So we all know now that the Olympus 75mm F1.8 is a stellar lens. The best lens available for M43s . Incredibly sharp, contrasty, aberation and distortion free.
Unfortunately, after selling my E-m5 (and retaining my GH3), my silver version wasn't getting a lot of love. I think it always stayed in the bag, partly because my perception and experience that silver lenses on a black camera can stick out a little. In think case it wasn't too bad but it did get worse if the hood was fitted - the camera attracted a lot of attention. I hadn't given it too much though but a upcoming video project inspired me to think on what to do, with the consequence I listed my silver lens on eBay (resale isn't too bad) and found a shop that could sell me a black 75mm for the same price as a new silver one. I wrote more about this here: http://wp.me/p2wMAg-xH

Luckily, no problems with lens quality and the 75mm is still excellent mounted on the GH3. One interesting point is that the sharpness of the lens does highlight the fact that the out of the can results from the Gh3 are slightly softer than the E-m5, which I assume results from a video spec AA filter. I'll admit I got that point wrong in previous posts, but the results are indistinguishable once sharpened appropriately anyway. One related point is that although the lens is fantastic optically and almost entirely silent, it is so sharp that moire can be an issue in video.

The great thing about the lens is that (as I thought) the black version is less obtrusive with the hood mounted. For stills it is peerless. Even for video, despite its issues, the 75mm is a breathtaking lens. I'm glad that (even though much of this may be more in my head ) I'll actually be using the 75 on the GH3 more going forwards.
