Pictures at a Port - DA 50-135, K5IIs

Port of Brest that is ...

The DA*50-135 must be one of the shining stars in the Pentax line up - so flexible. C & C welcome

Your shots are quite artistic and unique. I'm feeling like attending an art gallery or so.

Great work britcam. I can't help but think that it is the photographer and not necessarily that great lens that produced these fine images. Although I'm sure the lens made it easier for you.

Cheers.

I must admit I'd never thought of it that way ...! Thanks

I'm lucky enough to live on the south coast of Brittany, which is literally groaning with photographic  opportunities ... Gauguin's home town of Pont Aven is where I'm based.

Hi Ron. Thank you.

Though I do think that certain camera / lens combos suit certain shooting styles, and coming from Oly 4/3 I find that the K5IIs and 50-135 can finally reproduce the sort of simple shooting that I used to enjoy back in the film days, many, many, moons ago using a Konica Autoreflex + Tokina 70-210 zoom. Its such a comfortable, non-stressing focal range. Put simply, I find the Pentax imposes the least amount of obstruction to the process of "seeing" a subject and its capture. Add to that the near perfect handling, size, and IQ, and its hard to see how it can really be bettered.

What I am also appreciating is the extra clarity and "openness" of RAW files that the loss of the AA filter has resulted in with the K5IIs, compared with the K5 & K30 that I used to have.

Finally a picture thread that makes some sense

Thanks for posting these.

I already started to believe forum has turned into a Facebook-like pointless-and-shoot fandom, but this helped reassure me that there is still hope.
