Do you still buy photography magazines?

I used to be  a regular purchaser of photography magazines, reading and absorbing all the tests and other info.

These days I'm an exclusive internet 'browser' doing all my research and leisure reading on the web, using sites like DP Review.

How about you?

Do you still buy photography magazines on a regular basis?

I only buy digital versions for reading on my iPad. I subscribe to a couple of monthly magazines, like N (Nikon) magazine.

I used to buy them, then saw how much of the same magazines was copied on their internet sites. I used to spend a lot on golf mags also, till I found the same thing applied to those. It's surprising how much you can spend on mags, especially as there must be a dozen or so per month. No, I didn't buy a dozen a month, probably 2 at the most.

I subscribe to the British Journal of Photography, partly because it is very well printed. You can't get that image quality on a monitor.

I couldn't vote, there wasn't a fitting choice.  Not ONCE in my entire 30+ years of being interested in photography, owning cameras, shooting, etc., have I purchased a photography magazine.  Same with hunting & guns:  Ive done both my whole life and Ive never found a magazine interesting.  But Im not much of a magazine guy anything.  The only magazine Ive purchased regularly in my life is NatGeo.

Not since Herbert Keppler passed away.  I do subscribe to Neil van Niekerk's "Tangents" which is a digital monthly.

Thanks for the info on Neil van Niekerk's "Tangents", I'll look into that one.  I have read several of his books and they are excellent.

I found I outgrew these eventually. They get repetitive after a while and some of them are essentially the same stuff sorted and packaged differently. Right now I get Digital Photo Pro and Lenswork and that's about it. I used to get a lot more.

David, there's always something of interest, and the best part is that the subscription is free.  I have his book "On Camera Flash".

I think some of the British photo magazine are much better than the American.  Peterson's

( American) is pretty good though.

Agreed. And I recently found this German quarterly magazine, in English, that is excellent - long articles in great depth:

This sounds interesting and a subscription gives you free access to the old issues.  It's a little expensive, but it may be worth it.  I'm glad it has free delivery worldwide.  Does it include a free DVD with every issue or once a year.

The current issue, Summer 2013, is their 12th (quarterly - so 3 years).

I discovered it only two issues ago so don't know if it always had a DVD, but it does now.

Sure, as long as you only buy it for the, uh, pictures.

I occasionally buy 'Chasseur d'Images' if there's an article on something interesting. It helps my French photographic vocabulary.
