GBH, when a 400mm lens is too long ! (pics)

Well, here Great Blue Herons are difficult to get close, but once in awhile you encounter a very cooperative one.

At first it flew away because i didn't saw him, but he came back close to me at around 11 Meters. I was able to get close-up of him. I was positioned that some high vegetation was blocking my view on the bottom, left and right side of the GBH, so i couldn't move to change my view.

Here is a shot from where he flew back to where i was, all taken with my 7D and 400mm/5.6L.

Up here in Alaska, the GBH are quite shy and difficult to approach.  But a couple of years ago I visited Tampa, Florida, and was amazed at how habituated the GBH are there.  They just stroll along the beach with everyone else.

These were shot with my 70-200 f/4L IS:

Great shots!

Maybe GBH are shy in Alaska but you sure have very tame Grizzly Bears

You can't see the Frog because it's in the GBH stomach
